Discount Program Recruits Veterans, Businesses
HONESDALE – The Wayne County Office of Veterans Affairs in Honesdale issues cards to honorably discharged veterans of the US Armed Services, who can use it to access savings on goods and services from a variety of businesses across the county.
The Wayne County Veterans Discount Program (WCVDP) got underway back in 2011 and includes multiple businesses throughout the county. The Veterans Affairs Office works closely with the County Sheriff’s Department to produce the ID cards.
There is no charge to veterans to receive the card. Just stop by the Veterans Affairs Office at 314 10th Street in Honesdale, with your DD214 Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
The Veterans Affairs Office is also recruiting more companies to participate. To join, businesses must offer a discount on goods or services to Veterans who provide their WCVDP Identification Card. Interested businesses please contact the Veterans Affairs Office for a merchant application.

The Wayne County Department of Veteran’s Affairs provides assistance for veterans who are having difficulty obtaining the full benefits and services to which they are entitled by law based on their service to the country.
The Wayne County Department of Veteran’s Affairs will aid veterans in securing educational benefits through the Veteran’s Administration to those eligible.
The Wayne County Department of Veteran’s Affairs will aid veterans in securing veteran’s life insurance through the Veteran’s Administration.
County Veteran Burial Allowances
The Wayne County Department of Veteran’s Affairs provides burial benefits for eligible deceased veterans and in some cases for their spouses. This is an addition to burial benefits provided through the United States Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
Veteran’s Disability/Compensation, Pension, Medical Care and Insurance Programs
The Wayne County Department of Veteran’s Affairs will assist veterans in securing veteran pensions, survivors insurance, disability insurance compensation/pension and health care that they may be entitled to through the Veteran’s Administration.
