Administrative Brief

The Wayne County Department of Veteran’s Affairs assists veterans and their dependants with claims and issues before the United States Department of Veteran’s Affairs or the State Veteran’s agencies intervene. This office is fully accredited by the United States Department of Veteran’s Affairs.

9am – 12pm Tuesday & Thursday in Main Office.
9am – 12pm Wednesdays (1st and 3rd Weds. in Hamlin Office – (570) 689-3766)
9am – 12pm Wednesdays (2nd and 4th Weds. in Hawley Office – (570) 226-4209)

Travel Directions

314 Tenth St. Honesdale, PA 18431. From Route 6 West entering Honesdale (Main Street), turn right onto 10th street. At the intersection of 10th Street and Church Street, go straight. At the intersection of Tenth Street and Court Street, continue straight to 314 Tenth street on your right. Visitor parking is available in front of the building.

Benefits Advocacy

The Wayne County Department of Veteran’s Affairs provides assistance for veterans who are having difficulty obtaining the full benefits and services to which they are entitled by law based on their service to the country.

Educational Benefits

The Wayne County Department of Veteran’s Affairs will aid veterans in securing educational benefits through the Veteran’s Administration to those eligible.

Life Insurance

The Wayne County Department of Veteran’s Affairs will aid veterans in securing veteran’s life insurance through the Veteran’s Administration.

County Veteran Burial Allowances

The Wayne County Department of Veteran’s Affairs provides burial benefits for eligible deceased veterans and in some cases for their spouses. This is an addition to burial benefits provided through the United States Department of Veteran’s Affairs.

Veteran’s Disability/Compensation, Pension, Medical Care and Insurance Programs

The Wayne County Department of Veteran’s Affairs will assist veterans in securing veteran pensions, survivors insurance, disability insurance compensation/pension and health care that they may be entitled to through the Veteran’s Administration.
